Treviso, on the trail of Dante Alighieri

Have you ever imagined that you could go back in time and take a walk through the places of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy?

Well, in Treviso this is possible.

In fact, the Supreme Poet described a very specific place in the city in the 9th Canto of Paradise, which reads "Ove Sile e Cagnan s'accompagna," so where the river Cagnan flows into the Sile.

To pay homage to him, in 1865 the municipality decided to dedicate to Dante a monument that bears the verse in question and stands right where the two mentioned waterways meet.

The stele is located on a bridge, now known as Ponte Dante, in the Latin Quarter, the city's university and cultural hub.

• Treviso can be reached by car, by train from Venice-Mestre station or by bus line 8E from Mestre Centro and is about 30 km from the campsite.
